HAVINGA, Ralph

passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 95 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Lillian (1998). Loving father of Anne Marie Scofield (late Eric), Ron (Holly), Delores Havinga-Lasky (Gregg), Jacqueline Lorenzen (late Mike) and Dennis Havinga.Adored Papa of Terrie Leon (Frank), Rachael Gualtieri (Danny), Todd Havinga (Crystal), Ricky Scofield, Michael Scofield, Cathryn Lasky, Tammy Ross (Adam), Chantal Lorenzen, Skye Lorenzen (Josh), Ryan Havinga (Mhari) and 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Predeceased by five sisters and four brothers. Survived by his sister-in-laws Nancy, June (Cleve) and Lucy. Ralph was a WWII veteran serving with the Scottish Regiment stationed in Italy for three years. He travelled back to Canada by boat where he spent 7 years in IODE hospital where he met the love of his life Lillian. They were married for almost 50 years. He spent his career with Checker Industrial Rubber retiring after more than 30 years of service. He was an avid horseman and won many ribbons. His greatest joy in life came from family and his many grandchildren. He gave the best hugs - they will be missed. The family would like to give special thanks to the incredible nursing staff at Leamington Hospital for the wonderful care given to Ralph and his family. Thank you also to the staff at Chartwell Residence in Kingsville for all they did for Ralph. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 87 Maidstone Ave. E, Essex (519-776-4233) on Wednesday 3-5 and 7-9. Veterans Service under the Auspices of the W.V.M.S.C to be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 7 pm. Funeral Service to celebrate Ralph's life will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11 am. Pastor Dave Carter officiating.
