Obituary of Ray Pope
POPE, Raymond "Ray"
passed peacefully on November 26, 2019 at 74 years of age. Beloved husband and best friend of Laura (nee Martin) for 50 years on November 22, 2019. Loving Dad of Christine Paquette (Andy), Matthew (Kelly) and Jeremy (Bonnie). Proud Papa of Avery Sherk, Carter Sherk, Jordan Pope, Elizabeth Pope, Charlie Paquette, Lydia Pope, Matty Pope, Keegan Pope and Makayla Pope. Predeceased by his siblings, Patricia Plumton, Gord Pope and Barbara Martin. Dearest brother-in-law of Joanne Gagnon (Ray), Isabel O'Neil (Jerry), Madeline Jobin (late Ron), late Fred Martin (Mabel), Henry Martin (late Barb), John Martin (Lynne) and Tommy Martin (Brenda). He will also be remembered and missed by his many nieces and nephews. Ray retired in 2001 after 33 years of service with Chrysler Transport. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Holy Name Council 3305 and Fr. A.P. Marentette Assembly Fourth Degree. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, family vacations, but most of all watching his grandchildren grow. He was dedicated most to his family. He will be remembered for his sense of humour and warm smile. Many thanks to Renee at the LHIN and Kevin from Brady Pharmacy for their personal touch in keeping him comfortable during his illness. Visiting will take place at Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 87 Maidstone Ave. E., Essex (519-776-4233) on Thursday 2-5 and 7-9 pm and on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 146 Talbot Street South, Essex from 11 am until Mass of the Resurrection at 12 pm. Fr. Dave Boutette officiating. Parish Prayers combined with K of C prayers Thursday 7:30 pm. Interment to take place at Country Meadows Cemetery, Essex.
