I want to convey my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dorothy. My mother was Fern Kimmerly (nee Thompson). We spent time visiting at your home when younger and have fond memories of being with our extended family. I know you will miss her Laurie and Jeff!

We Extend Our Heartfelt Sympathy To Dorothy’s Family While Unfortunately We Cannot Be With You In Person, We Most Certainly Are In Spirit and Prayer.
As part of the rural farming community and with I, Don beginning at an early age exposed to many of the families in Sandwich South Township and surrounding areas, I would be familiar with many.
My parents Kenneth and Verlie (Dubé) were raised on family farms, Dad on the 4th. Concession of Anderdon Twp. with ancestry arriving from Scotland in the 1800`s and Mom on the Pike Rd., Malden Twp. with ancestry settling there from France via Terrebonne, Québec (Then known as Lower Canada). They would marry and locate to the Oldcastle area in 1934 where Dad would manage the Service Station on southeast corner of Hwy. #3 and Walker Rd. for the Oldcastle Farmer’s Co-op, this being also somewhat of a place for the local farmers, such as Percy Roadhouse and Steve Esping among others to gather.
In 1941, Dad would take employment at Ford Motor Company as a Millwright and we would take residence on the Hugh J. O’Neil Farm on northwest corner of Walker and South Talbot Roads whereby I would gain in my youth further exposure to those in the community while working for Mr. O,Neil, a Wholesale Livestock Dealer, Slaughter House Operator, Farmer and Entrepreneur as he conducted business throughout the area. Many times I have walked that short distance on South Talbot, a gravel road in that era, to home from Walker Rd. when commuting by Greyhound Bus from Windsor and on occasion in the company of Dorothy who would then proceed to her home on the Holden Rd.
In 1948, we would relocate to a new apartment over the Oldcastle Cold Storage, a business owned by Mr. O’Neil and his cousin Doug, on the northeast corner of Hwy.#3 and Walker Rd. and shortly after I would manage this business for them, while my customers would be from the same aforementioned area.
In 1956, my employment interest would take me elsewhere and with my folks we would build a home nearby on Walker Rd, later better identifiable by being across from the Sandwich South Twp. Fire Station after it was built. For over fifty years I would enjoyably appreciate the many acquaintances made during the aforementioned years who in passing and if I was outdoors, they would honk their horn and give a friendly wave.
Now having retired to Niagara Falls to be near daughter Lynne and Family, Patricia and I whole heartedly retain memories of the many friendships made in the Oldcastle and surrounding areas.

Dear Laurie, Jeff and families, I was so very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I adored her. I remember when we were in grade school hanging out at your house,( which, by the way, I thought was the coolest house! ). Your mom had the best sense of humor. there was always so much laughter in your home. Your mom was a very lovely lady. My sincerest condolences to you and your families.

Being Aunt Dorothy's niece; her friend; her neighbour in my childhood and teenage years; and her flower girl in 1950 has been such a meaningful and loving experience not only for me, but our daughters and their families. Knowing her through her generous heart; love for people; and yes her stories about the community and our family has been an inspiration to all of us creating lasting memories...Thank you Aunt Dot! Our deepest condolences to Jeff and Penny; Laurie and Ed and their families. Love Fred, Cathy, Shannon, Mark, Heidi, Jason, Ava, Avery and Cole.
